Park United Methodist church is a Stephen Ministry Congregation. The name Stephen comes from St. Stephen, who was the first lay person commissioned by the apostles to provide care to these in need. This is recorded in Acts 6.
A Stephen Ministry congregation has trained lay caregivers. Stephen Ministers provide confidential one to one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, relocated and others facing a crisis of life change. Stephen Ministry helps pastors and congregations provide quality caring ministry as long as it is needed.
Park Church's Stephen Ministry is ready to serve the congregation. We commissioned four Stephen Ministers on December 4, 2016, who are eager and ready to serve. They have completed the 50 hours of training necessary to be a Stephen Minister.
We are continuing to seek persons who are interested in being a Stephen Minister. Our next training of 50 hours will be scheduled to begin in May 2017.
